Hi, I’m Coralie, the founder of Grey Globetrotters. Here’s where you can find out a little about me.

Grey Globetrotters Founder Coralie 2

I’m a travel addict with more than four decades of international travel experience – to over 35 countries across five continents so far.

I’ve raised a wonderful son on my own, lived in three countries, and moved house more than 30 times!

That’s forced me to get good at packing – houses and suitcases – and I’ve learned that the best way to travel is carry-on only!

I love affordable luxury, off-the-beaten-track adventures, cultural destinations, delicious street food, and sipping a cold G&T in new places.

Through Grey Globetrotters, I hope to inspire other midlife women to follow their travel dreams too.

Grey Globetrotters is a travel blog for adventurous women who are over 50 and who want to see more of the world, on their own terms – whether as a solo traveller, as a couple, or in a group.

Let me help you with:

3 Things About Me

Book Worm

Growing up pre-internet, I spent hours in libraries and at home pouring over atlases, encyclopaedias, and pretty much any books I could get my hands on. I loved novels that gave me an insight into the lives of people in other countries, and a better understanding of history. Today, I still get through a couple of books every week.

My first solo trip was an adventure holiday when I was 10. I researched, planned, and badgered my folks into booking it for me – I had a ball.

Four years later, at 14, I won a competition to work with conservation volunteers in India and Nepal for a month, and off I went without my parents!! On that mesmerising trip, I helped fit a tracking collar on a tiger, swam in a river with fish-eating crocodiles, met people from all over the world, and visited the iconic Taj Mahal and Red Fort.

That visit changed my life – I’d fallen in love with adventurous travel. I only wish I’d had a halfway decent camera at the time, as the only photos that have survived the years are faded and pretty rubbish!

World Traveller

Since then I’ve travelled extensively for business and pleasure, in a group, as a couple, with my son, and as a solo traveller. I’ve made mistakes, however along the way I’ve learned how to plan like a ninja, to score the best travel bargains, and to pack so light I only need a cabin bag for most trips.

Importantly I’ve also learned how to stay safe and healthy when travelling, how to survive as a solo female traveller, and what to do when things don’t go quite to plan.

When friends and colleagues kept asking me how, as a single parent, I can afford my travel adventures and how I always manage to fit so much into my trips, I began blogging to share my money-saving and travel tips with them.

I am going to keep having fun every day I have left, because there is no other way of life. You just have to decide whether you are a Tigger or an Eeyore

Randy Pausch

I’ve met lots of women like me – in their 50s and beyond – with a real hunger to travel adventurously, and often a desire, need, or no alternative but to travel solo.

These women told me they need tips, guides, and resources geared towards mature women to help them truly realise their travel dreams and deal with some of their fears about solo female travel.

What Does Grey Globetrotters Have for You?

What’s Different About Grey Globetrotters?

I live in Yorkshire where people are well-known for plain speaking. There’s no fluff, no gloss, and no pretence. People tell it how it is.

I’ve brought this approach to Grey Globetrotters, so you’ll only read about places I’ve actually visited and I’ll always give you the full unedited picture.

If something is amazing, I’ll tell you but if something isn’t so good, I’ll let you know that too. It’s only fair.
